R.I.P. Alvin Lee

Pioneering British blues guitarist Alvin Lee has died. According to a message on alvinlee.com, “With great sadness, we have to announce that Alvin unexpectedly passed away early this morning after unforeseen complications following a routine surgical procedure,. We have lost a wonderful, much loved father and companion. The world has lost a great and truly gifted musician.”

Lee, who was often compared to guitar heroes Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton, led the critically acclaimed band Ten Years After and scored hits like “I’d Love to Change the World.” His crowing achievement was at Woodstock where a played an epic 11-minute version of his song “I’m Going Home.”
